Pan Fried Golden Tofu Bites:
1 pack tofu (I used super firm)
2 tbsp. cornstarch or potato starch
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. oil (I used olive)
4 tbsp. maple syrup or agave
1 tbsp. lemon juice (it has to be fresh!)
1 tsp. paprika, cumin, garlic powder, & garam masala
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1-2 tbsp. water
Optional garnish: green onion, cilantro &/or sesame seeds
Pat dry tofu & break into bite-sized pieces. Toss tofu in a bowl with 1 tsp. salt & cornstarch or potato starch. Add oil to a pan or skillet over medium-high heat, pan fry tofu on all sides until colour becomes golden (~5-8 minutes).
I’m a separate bowl, mix together maple or agave syrup, fresh lemon juice, water, & all seasonings until combined.
Once tofu begins to crisp, drizzle on the glaze mixture & mix tofu until nicely coated. Stir fry for another 2-3 minutes until crisp. (**Optional to re-pan fry in a separate skillet if you want a smokey, crispy tofu!)
Serve with green onion or cilantro & sesame seeds & enjoy!
